Xpounded DocSavage text to XML/DHTML Book automation
REQUIREMENTS: WScript5.6, and IE5.5+
Here is an automation that will slice and dice a plain text file into an XML/DHTML book.
The automation will create a folderset in the text files folder that holds the newly
created XML documents plus a newly created DHTML viewer for the XML.
Hope you Doc Savage, Pulp, and Project Gutenberg fans like this one.
Note: Want a better reader? Yes, Make Me One!.
Instructions:
- Get plain text books from your favorite source
- The Gutenberg Project
- Doc Savage at Blackmask
- etc...
- Open the text file and add the follwing line just after the chapters listing (if any)
#-@-#
Also add a line with the word "Chapter " followed by a chapter description as a chapter seperator
just before each chapter (if non exists already).
- Adjust the ' Book section' to reflect the files you want to use.
- (Doc Savage Fans already have this step set for them).
- If you use images, make sure thay are in a folder named 'images' that is at the same
level as the final viwer.
Run this automation.
- The resulting xml files will be held in a folder with the same name as the origional text file.
- The viewer will be one level up
